I Just Want a Jay Oh Bee

Ughhh.  Tons of my friends have jobs.  Not only jobs, but ONES THAT THEY HAVE DREAMED OF.
One friend got hired for a position on a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
One is on a Infant and Toddler floor at a childrens hospital.
One friend just got hired for a position on the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit at a huge teaching hospital in Kentucky.
One friend in Charleston has had THREE interviews for NICU positions.
One just got accepted into a huge  RN residency program in Tennessee.

ME... ONE INTERVIEW FOR A POSITION I'M NOT EVEN SURE I'M GOING TO LOVE, LET ALONE LIKE.

Whoa... Sorry for the "YELLING".  Haha.

I'm just super duper frustrated.  I just need to give it all to God and stop worrying.

But keep your fingers crossed.  I just applied to a Labor and Delivery unit in western NC, and an Emergency Department Position in the lowcountry of SC, and just got a call back from my interview ( to the position I already hate).

It never ends.

This is the semester that never ends. It goes on and on my friends.

This semester has DRAGGED.  I've got the BIGGEST case of senioritis.

My clinical isn't going as I thought it was going to be.  I feel like I'm going to be the biggest failure as nurse.  I was taught all of these nursing skills in my 4 years in college, but not one of those skills is the 'right' way.  Pisses me off.
I hate it when I know I know how to do something, but just because I'm not doing it 'their' way I'm completely wrong.   I like to figure things out for myself. I know that I'm dealing with real patients and it might not be best to do the trial and error approach with them but to truly perfect my nursing skills I need to practice and learn on my own.  I hate being in the middle of inserting an IV and have the nurse literally take it out of my hands and say ' Just let me do it".

And yes...that did happen today.  I felt my heartbeat in my ears I was so ticked off.  The tears welled and I seriously almost lost it...and thats just the tip of the iceberg on the pile of crap that I've dealt with during my two consecutive 12 hour shifts at the hospital.

I just want May 7th to get here. I just want to take my state boards.  I just want to be a real RN already.

I cannot wait have my RN license in my hand.  I can't wait to have the title BSN, RN after my name.

I found this abstract of an article online.

"Student nurses appear to experience significantly more stress during their academic preparation than they do during the first year of employment. Preceptorship is among the most stressful of student experiences. It is within the context of a challenging and at times daunting work environment that two complete strangers (preceptor and student) strive to accommodate one another within a professional capacity. If the relationship between preceptor and student is less than successful, not only can it be frustrating and disheartening, but it can result in student stress and disillusionment about nursing and an inability to integrate and learn. "

I found it here.
And thats all I've got.....I'm poooped.  But yay for getting to sleep in tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the Highest!!  The Lord is Risen!

Happy Easter!

I'm leaving you with a few songs that seriously really make me feel the Spirit. And I'm Presbyterian!  I've grown up around hymns and have never really experienced contemporary Christian music until college. These are some songs that really are amazing and are truly gifts of praise to God!

Summer...Here? Already?

So...spring in SC lasted maybe 3 weeks.  It is hot as hell here.  The high today was 86, and SC humidity made it feel like 90!

I was outside for maybe an hour today helping my grandparents in their garden, and I worked up a sweat!  I have a feeling it is going to be a hot summer.  Too bad I couldn't lay out by the pool today!  My burn from the Carolina Cup is still pretty bad.  I'm all peely and I'd just get burned worse if I tried to tan today!

I'm home for Easter by the way.  Thank God my schedule fell into place and I got to come home last night!  Whoo hoo!  And yay for 35 days left until graduation!

WHICH means....I need to kick my BUTT into shape because I will be in a bridesmaids dress on June 26th!  85 days.  I can do it.  You all HAVE keep me accountable!!  Get mean!  Haha.

I'm planning on going back on the P90X track which is totally awesome when I can find time for it.

Also, I'm going to drink a ton of water.  I figured it I have 16 oz of water at each meal, plus 16 ounces of water in between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner and only 8 ounces when I wake up and in the evening,  I'll be on track with the ounces per pound deal.  It adds up to 96 ounces a day.

I'm hoping to lose 25 pounds in 12 weeks, which equals 2 pounds a week.  I can TOTALLY do this.  My plan is to be back to prom weight....or freshman year weight ( how many people can say that?)

AND I want to grow my hair out again.  I'm thinking about taking prenatal vitamins to help speed it up. Definitely NOT pregnant.

This is the only picture I could find that really showed how long my hair was....at a length I actually liked.  Too long and my hair looks stringy...and too short I can't do anything with it!  Please don't laugh.  It was for my chorus' spring show.  Baahahaahaaaa.

Birthday Week!

My birthday weekend was wonderful! On Thursday night,a few friends and I went to a fun little sushi bar and grill in downtown Columbia.  It was yummy!  It was 50cent sushi night too! My friend Amanda surprised me with a cake decorated with my monogram and 'sparkle trick candles'.  The WHOLE restuarant watched and laughed because I could NOT get a few candles to go out! Too much fun!  Then we went a rooftop bar on the 17th story of the Sheraton Hotel .  It was SO gorgeous!  I wish Dave could have been there, but his twin brother's girlfriend, Chelsea ( who is also my good friend) came to help me celebrate!

Beautiful friends!!

SC State House from the top of the hotel.

Looove these girls! The one in the pink is my roommate Lizzy!

On Friday, Dave and Dan arrived!  We went out to eat and then we came back to the apartment and relaxed and prepared ourselves for a crazy fun long day ahead of us!

Carolina Cup, Saturday, March 27, 2010. Camden, South Carolina

The Cup was TOO much fun!  We were on the road towards Camden at 8:30am and made it there by 9:15.  It was chilly when we got there so we sat in the car and waited for a few of our friend to get there.  It was fun too watching charter bus after charter bus unload bookoos of  already drunk college students.   Our friends finally came and we headed into the gates!!  The weather was PERFECT!!!  It ended up warming up and the day was perfect, even though I couldn't find several of my friends that I promised I would try to find.  There were over 65,000 people there.  Too much cherry vodka and sprite might have had something to do with that. Hmmm.

I'm so bummed I never made it to the Lilly booth!

Me and my handsome boyfriend!

Me and one of Dave's good friends from high school.

The whole gang.

The 1st race of the day!

Go Horsey Go!

The winner of the 1st race!

Oh what a day it was.

It's my birthday...and I got an award! Whoo!

On Thursday March 24, 1988, at 10:20am...22 years ago....I came into this world.  Awwww.

I was rotten.

Little Me on Easter

Well... today has been a great day so far! I got to sleep in a little (compared to waking up at 4:45am for the past 2 days for clinical).

My mom teaches special education at an elementary school and she called and put me on speaker phone so her kids could sing 'Happy Birthday' to me!  Tooo sweet.  Especially from her kids.

It's GORGEOUS here in SC today.  I'm actually planning on lying out in the sun by the apartment pool later...and I'm thinking about skipping class tonight!

And

Dave sent me flowers!

AND

I was tagged in a blogger award today from SJT at The List

Preppy Mafia? Like SJT...Preppy Mafia is not so much me. I ALSO think they and other stores like them can be a rip off. Don't get me wrong, their stuff is PRESH, but sometimes I'd like to spend my moolah on thing that I won't cry over when I accidently ruin it.  I'm a pro at ruining brand new expensive things.  I dropped my new Blackberry Storm on the screen side after 3 days of having it.  And I'm great at somehow managing to get mud/dirt in the strangest of places.

Anyways,  here are the questions.

1) Who is your style icon?
Hmm...I wouldn't say I have a style icon, but if I had to pick someone it would be  Jennifer Anniston.  She always looks classy, comfortable and cute at the same time. She dresses well, but always looks like a regular person with a regular life.  I like the classy, simple, sweet and southern style.

2) What is your favorite socialite lit book?
Hmm...LOVE LOVE LOVE Gossip Girl books and Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes

3) Favorite party theme?
Definitely 80's themed.  You can never go wrong with poofy crimpy hair, spandex and neon colors.

4) Favorite Halloween costume?
Awwww.

No...um...I would have to say the year I dressed as a dalmation. Me and my brother matched.  My parents have a picture of ME cocking my leg up on my brother.  I couldn't have been older than 7.

5) Extravagance you can't live without?
Bare Minerals Make up.   Not really an extravagance...but  I can't live without it.

6) Living person you admire?
My Mammaw Donna.  :)
7) Greatest fear?
Dying alone.

8) Trait you deplore in yourself?
Pectus Excavatum.  My breastbone is concave.  Makes my cleavage look great but it's just annoying b/c I can't wear just any style of swimsuits.

9) Which talent would you most like to have?
I wish I had an athletic bone in my body. I even stunk at church basketball.

10) Greatest achievement?
I made it through college in 4 years.  I'm pretty proud.

Well...I'm tagging Emma at The Other Shore!  I'm a new follower to her blog and it is too cute! :)
